TalkZeno (the “app”) helps you practise spoken English with an AI partner and with other learners. It is operated by TechMasti (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. By using TalkZeno you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address, a display name, and a password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash, never in readable form.
- Sign in with Google (optional): if you choose “Continue with Google”, Google tells us your email address, name and a unique Google account ID. We do not receive your Google password, contacts or other Google data. Google’s own handling of that sign-in is covered by Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Profile settings you choose: your English level, learning goal, daily speaking goal, and an optional referral code if you sign up through a friend.
- What you say and type to the AI partner: your messages and spoken sentences (as text), and the AI’s replies and feedback.
- Reports: if you report another learner, the reason and any note you write.
- Upgrade requests and support emails you send us.
Information created as you use the app
- Learning activity: speaking minutes per day, streaks, XP, your credit balance and credit history, and your conversation history (AI sessions, and the time, duration, topic and participants of calls with other learners).
- Plan and purchase records: which plan you have and when it ends. When you subscribe through Google Play we receive a purchase token, the product, its status and expiry date from Google. We never receive your card or bank details.
- Technical data: your IP address, device and app version, and server logs used for security, abuse prevention and fixing problems. Your device time zone is used to work out your local “day” for goals and streaks.
- Notification token: if you allow notifications, a token that identifies your device for notifications. Streak reminders themselves are scheduled on your phone.
Microphone and voice
- The app asks for microphone access so you can speak with the AI partner and with other learners. You can refuse or withdraw this in your phone settings, and continue by typing.
- Speaking to the AI: your words are turned into text by the speech-recognition service built into your Android phone. That service is provided by Google or your phone manufacturer and may process audio on their servers under their own privacy policies. We receive only the resulting text.
- Voice messages: if voice-message transcription is switched on, a short recording is sent to our server, converted to text and discarded. We do not store the recording.
- Calls with other learners: call audio travels directly between the two phones. We do not record or store it. When a direct connection is not possible, a relay server we operate forwards the encrypted call data without keeping it. Our servers do see technical connection details such as IP addresses while a call is being set up.
Ads
Users on the free plan may be offered rewarded ads (watch a short ad to earn credits) served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device’s advertising ID, IP address and device and app information to show and measure ads. See Google’s advertising policies. You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation in your Android settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
2. How we use information
- To run the app: create and secure your account, match you with other learners, and run AI conversations, feedback, credits, goals and streaks.
- To provide subscriptions: confirm your Google Play purchase and give you the plan you paid for.
- To keep the community safe: handle reports and blocks, and limit abuse, spam and fraud.
- To maintain and improve the service, fix bugs, and understand overall usage.
- To contact you about your account, security, billing or changes to our policies.
- To meet our legal obligations.
AI processing: your AI conversations are handled by an AI model that we host on our own servers. They are not sent to third-party AI companies. AI replies and feedback can be inaccurate, so please use your own judgement.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Who we share information with
- Other learners: when you are matched for a call, the other person sees your display name and English level. They do not see your email address. If you report or block someone, that is recorded on our side.
- Google: Google Play (billing and app distribution), Google Sign-In (optional login), Google AdMob (rewarded ads) and your phone’s speech-recognition service, as described above.
- Our hosting provider: our servers are run on rented infrastructure. Our provider stores data on our behalf and may not use it for its own purposes.
- Legal and safety: we may disclose information if required by law or a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users, the public or TalkZeno.
- Business changes: if TalkZeno is transferred to another owner, your information may transfer with it, subject to this policy.
4. How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is active. Which part of your conversation history is shown to you depends on your plan (for example 7 days on Basic and 90 days on Pro), but we keep transcripts until you delete your account or ask us to remove them.
When you delete your account (see section 6) we remove your email, password hash, display name, notification tokens, profile details, AI conversation transcripts and feedback, progress history, blocks, ad-reward log and upgrade requests. We keep the following, which afterwards point only to an anonymous “Deleted user” account:
- records of calls with other learners (they are also the other person’s history);
- credit, plan and purchase records, kept for accounting, refunds and fraud prevention;
- safety reports about conduct, kept to protect other users.
Server logs are kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting. Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription — cancel that separately in Google Play (see our Refund & Cancellation Policy).
5. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hash passwords, limit who can access our systems, and rate-limit sign-in attempts. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and do not share personal contact details in conversations.
6. Your choices and rights
- Edit: change your name, level and goals in the app under Profile.
- Delete your account and data: in the app, go to Profile → Delete account. Or use our web page at /delete-account, which works even if you have uninstalled the app.
- Ask us: to access, correct or delete your information, or to raise a concern, email support@techmasti.com from your registered address. We aim to respond within 30 days.
- Notifications, microphone, advertising ID: control these in your phone settings at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local data-protection law (for example India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023). We aim to handle personal data in line with the laws that apply to our users.
7. Children
TalkZeno is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it. Where the law of your country sets a higher age for consenting to data processing, you must meet that age or have a parent’s or guardian’s consent.
8. International use
TalkZeno is used in several countries, and our servers may be located in a country different from yours. By using the app you understand that your information may be processed and stored there, and we apply the protections described in this policy wherever it is handled.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective” date above shows the latest version. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
